Wacky Wednesday

A few weeks ago, in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday, Emma's preschool class enjoyed a "Wacky Wednesday." Emma was sick and missed school that day, so we did our own "Wacky Wednesday." (Yes, mom, I realize that I am, by definition, wacky and therefore EVERY Wednesday should be thus titled~but I'm using this as a reason to post some photos of Emma for you, so just go with it! Ha ha!)

This is how Emma arrived at 6:30 AM. It's kind of hard to see everything she did. She wore a skirt over her pants, an inside-out shirt, Mommy's scarf, her kitty hat backwards, and a ring pop (a lollipop on a ring) instead of a real ring.
And then she showed me her feet.
Since it was Wacky Wednesday, I assumed that breakfast should be wacky as well. So I gave her cereal on a plate with a fork, muffins and cookies in a cereal bowl with a spoon, and water in a coffee cup with a straw. I think this was Emma's favorite part of the day! (And yes, I openly admit that I gave my granddaughter cookies for breakfast. Several cookies. Maybe even more than that. Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies to be exact. They were right out of the freezer, which is how Thin Mints should always be eaten.)

And yes, I did take her out in public in this ensemble. It wouldn't have been very wacky had we stayed inside in all day. Lucky for me no one at the grocery store called Child Services.

And since today is also a Wednesday, I decided to be wacky myself and get in my pajamas at 5:00. Though that doesn't make today any different from yesterday, the day before, or the day before that.

Here's a photo I took a few weeks ago when we had what turned out to be our only measurable snow for the season. Unless you count the blizzard we had in October, but that was wacky. I like the way the flag is juxtaposed with the snowy background. I took this looking out my front door.
As if having so little snow wasn't wacky enough, we had several 80 degree days two weeks later. We never see 80 degrees here before the end of June. Wacky, I tell you!

Hope your Wednesday was full of wacky fun!

Cason's Baby Book

Since I haven't posted anything crafty lately, I thought I'd post the most recent baby book I made. My totally sweet and awesome friend, Lesly, is going to become a grandma any day now. When I met Lesly, Stephanie was only 12. I can't believe she's all grown up and is a mommy! She knows she is having a boy and his name is Cason. It's a cool name, huh? It's her dad's middle name, which also happens to be his mother's maiden name. Anyway, she and Gabe are decorating his room with a Noah's Ark theme, so of course I had to try to make the book match. These are the front and back covers.
Steph's baby shower had a color theme: blue with white polka dots and brown. So I made her shower pages and card to match the theme. I love this Bella stamp. It's so much fun to pop the prego belly up to make it 3D. At the she time, I hate this Bella stamp because I never, ever, EVER looked this cute and fashionable when I was pregnant! LOL (In fact, when I was pregnant with Brittany, all of the maternity clothes were nautical. By that I mean navy blue, with white anchors and gold anchor buttons. Sooooooooo NOT me!)
These pages are for the guests to sign their names and/or write little messages. I gave Steph some white pens to use.
Cason's nursery is brown, blue, and green. Love the little bears on the paper!
Even though this book is for a boy, I found a way to sneak some purple in, ha ha. Everybody knows that purple and Easter go together. And purple and Valentine's Day. Purple and Halloween. Purple and Thanksgiving. Even purple and Christmas. In fact, purple makes everything better. Kinda like m&m's. I wonder why there aren't any purple m&m's. Can you imagine how deliriously happy they would make me? Hmm. I need to email somebody about that. But I digress...
Love these cutesy stamps!
Since Steph and Gabe live in CA, I thought they'd need some beachy pages.
These are the same layouts I did for Sophia's book.
See? I told you purple goes with Halloween. And Thanksgiving. :)
Steph and Gabe are huge (that is not a reference to Steph's belly, hee hee) football fans, so I thought I'd use a footbally theme for Cason's 1st birthday.
And since I am learning to knit, I made a little football hat for Cason. This is a totally awful and out-of-focus photo, and I didn't check it before I gave them the hat. But you'll get the idea.
So get this: it's going to be in the 80s here today and tomorrow! Unbeievable! It shouldn't be 80 here until June. But it's all good~I've been dying to play on the swings and with bubbles and sidewalk chalk. One of the best things about being a grandma is that I get to act like I'm 10 and none of my neighbors will call social services. At least I hope not!

Happy Spring!

A Bit More Birthday

A few birthday surprises awaited Miss Emma when we arrived home from CA. This one is from Aunt Lori and Uncle Bill.
These are from Vic and Mo Gulas.
The Dawson family gave Emma a beautiful red dress for Christmas. For her birthday, they gave her this doll, complete with a matching dress!
These gifts are from Pedro and Paloma.
Emma LOVES camping, so we gave her a Barbie motor home.
And since we couldn't possibly give Emma our birthday gift without having cupcakes...
YUMMALISH!

Adios Mama

We spent one last day with my mom. Emma was so excite to give her a present from Disneyland.
I wanted a photo of me and my mommy. She insisted there wasn't enough room for both of us on the chair, so I made her sit in my lap. :)
Two of Emma's favorite peeps: Uncle Keaton and Tina.
Emma was quite intrigued with this ginormous lollipop from Disneyland. In my opinion, lollipops are like cupcakes: you never outgrow them...
..especially when they turn your tongue different colors! What's not to love?
Emma loved playing in my mama's backyard,
especially with O'Malley
and Clementine.
As her birthday gift to Emma, Brittany let Emma choose a princess ensemble. The day before we went to Disneyland, Emma spotted Rapunzel's wedding dress in The Disney Store. She looked for it at Disneyland, but they didn't have it, nor did she find anything she preferred. So we went back to The Disney Store and this is what she chose.

I know! So stinking cute! Now she wants to marry Papa and is quite annoyed with me for having already married him. :)

Our weather has been fabulous! I know that most of you consider 60 degrees to be freezing, but as soon as it hits 60 degrees here, I open the windows and breathe in the fresh air! Keep in mind it's been COLD here since October, so 60 feels like summer weather!

Hope you have a great weekend! Looks like I'll be watching a Law & Order marathon or a bunch of good Chick Flicks while I knit and nurse this yucky cold.
