Practically Perfect!

At the play, I just had to buy a Mary Poppins doll for Emma. I must confess that I am not sure who was more excited about the doll: Emma or me! I had a Mary Poppins doll when I was a little girl. I am dismayed to tell you that the doll and the board game that I had are long since gone, though I do still have Mary's carpet bag. About 10 years ago, I purchased the Madame Alexander Mary Poppins doll and I love her! Anyway, when I saw this doll at the theatre I knew she was going home either with me or with Miss Emma. Alas, Miss Emma was thrilled to receive her~but since I see her everyday, I imagine I'll get plenty of play time with Mary! LOL
And here I am with my two favorite, beautiful, precious girls at the play.
Now, if only I could get "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" out of my head! Ha ha!

The Celebration Continues...

Well, Miss Emma has enjoyed quite the birthday week! Brittany's best friend and her baby, Brenda and Landon, have been visiting from CO. Emma's party was on Sunday. Wednesday was Emma's actual birthday, and she had the whole day planned for us. We started out having breakfast at Mike's Bridge Diner. It's a super cute log cabin restaurant with the BEST breakfast! So yummy and so inexpensive! The only downsides are : 1) it's so yummy that you end up eating way too much; and 2) There are hunting trophies (stuffed dead animals) on display. But if you can keep your eyes on your plate you're fine! Emma arrived wearing Lucy (aka Bitty Baby) and the frontpack Rick and I gave her for her birthday. Too cute!
Here's Emma waiting patiently for her white chocolate chip pancakes in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head. I couldn't decide which of these two photos I liked the best, so I am just posting both of them.
After breakfast, Emma wanted to go to a paint-your-own-pottery studio. She had her heart set on painting a mermaid to go with her whole "Under the Sea" birthday theme. Thankfully, they had one!
It's hard to see in this photo, but the mermaid's hair is purple, her shell top is orange, her fins are green, and the wave upon which she is sitting is a lovely mix of blue, green, and purple. And then there are eyes, which Emma insisted had to be pink with eyelashes! The eyes kinda freak me out, LOL, but Emma loves them!
That evening, she requested a pizza dinner at Giffy and Papa's house. Then she opened a few more gifts. Now, you know I had already given her her big box of Bitty Baby things at her party. But seriously, how could this Giffy let Emma's actual birthday go by without another little something? So I made this mermaid card for her (TGF's Mermaid Anya).
Have you seen those commercials for the Hallmark recordable storybooks? I recorded 'Twas The Night Before Christmas for her as a Christmas gift, Guess How Much I Love You as a Valentine's gift, and My Little Princess for her birthday. Now she can hear me read a story to her whenever she likes! Anyway, the princess book was in her gift bag, as well as a little set of squirrels riding bicycles for her Calico Critters house. I also tucked in a kokeshi doll from my secret stash for her (I only have two left). This one is soooo cute~she has cherries on her dress and the most adorable little pigtails! (Thanks for picking this one for her, Miss Christy!) Emma loves her!
Every time we got to The Disney Store in our local mall, Emma plays with the Beauty and the Beast tea set. We literally have to separate her from it when it's time to leave. Her Uncles, Brennan and Keaton, got it for her. You be the judge~does she like it?
Emma also loves puzzles (she can do really difficult ones) and kitties. So Uncle Keaton and his girlfriend, Tina, gave this to her. I love the look on her face!
Her cousins, Zack, and Rachel (they're actually Brittany's cousins but are closer in age to Emma) sent Emma a birthday Barbie. Emma, of course, thinks this Barbie is beautiful~she couldn't even take her eyes off of her long enough for me to get a photo!
And then came the best gift of all: Mommy bought three tickets to see the Broadway production of Mary Poppins! So Emma, Brittany and I are heading into Boston this afternoon. We will enjoy dinner at The Cheesecake Factory before heading to the play. Emma loves the movie and is soooooo excited! I'm super excited, too~I still have my Mary Poppins doll from when I was a little girl!
Finally, there was the cake. Emma has never had a store bought birthday cake before. We always make cakes or cupcakes or get something different. She really wanted to go to the store and choose a pretty cake. She didn't really care what kind of cake it was, it was all about the icing. She had to have this one~it's pink, it has daisies, and it has 4 daisies to celebrate her turning four! The baker even wrote on it for her. And get this~she requested an "open 4" not the "triangle top 4" (like the one I just typed). Funny, huh?
Here I am with my sugared-up sweetheart!
Here are Emma, Brittany, Landon, and Brenda.
So one more day of celebrating Miss Emma. Boston, here come the Burns girls! Woo hoo!

Happy 4th Birthday, Miss Emma Grace!

Today is my little sweetheart's birthday. How has time passed so quickly? I can't believe she is four already! And to think~I haven't aged one bit! LOL

Emma's party was on Sunday. She wanted an "Under the Sea" theme with a mermaid, but was quite clear that it wasn't Disney's The Little Mermaid. I'm not sure why she made that distinction, but it really mattered to her. So her mama made the cutest invitations and decorated the house. The funniest part is that Emma asked if we could paint both the interior and exterior of our house blue for her party so that everyone would feel like they were in the sea! Now, I know that I overindulge the child, but even I had to say no to that! LOL

I am devastated that most of my photos did not turn out well. I finally realized that I was sitting right next to the sliding glass door, through which a lot of bright light was bouncing off of the snow. That light was hitting my camera, which wreaked havoc on the photos. I did get a few, though. Here are the cupcakes Emma and her mommy made.
Mommy bought her these balloons, which she loved!
Here we are with our little princess.
This is Alexa, the daughter of our sweet friends Paloma and Pedro. She loved Emma's favorite friend, Jack!
Here are a few random shots from the opening of the gifts.
Mom, here she is reading the card you sent. She LOVES the book! (It's a book of Disney Princess stories.)
Check out this little purse that is a mermaid!
Wearing a collection of headbands...

Cupcake time!
I love Alexa's blue lips!
Of course, I had to make her several birthday cards~a few to mail to her (she loves getting mail), plus one for her party and one for her family celebration. These are the two I mailed.
(You're so Tweet by MFT; SU's Petals and Paisleys DP, Tempting Turquoise, and Regal Rose; SU Tag Punch)
(Hello Cupcake my MFT; SU's Petals and Paisleys DP, Tempting Turquoise, and Pear Pizzazz; SU Oval Punch, SU's Pretty in Pink Grosgrain ribbon)

This is the card I made to accompany her gift. I didn't get a good photo of her opening our gift, though. She wanted more clothes for her Bitty Baby doll, so we gave her a box full of outfits and accessories.
(Underwater by Sugar Plums; SU's Petals and Paisleys DP, Regal Rose, and Tempting Turquoise; Verve Sweet Scallop Tag Die; Stamping Bella's Baubles, CTMH Opaque Pearls)

Emma has a full day planned for today. First, she wants to go out for breakfast, so I'd better get moving! Have a good day!

A Few Valentine Pics

Mommy gave Emma a rose for Valentine's Day...
...and an Ariel doll.
Emma made Mommy a valentine (she chose the papers and asked me to cut them, but she did the stamping, coloring, and gluing).
Here's Lucy (aka Bitty Baby) wearing her special Valentine's Day outfit from Giffy and Papa.
We had a nice, quiet celebration at home. No pics of me~I was on day 1 of a 5 day migraine, so I couldn't deal with the flash. The good news is that the headache is better now and it's snowing again! We're only supposed to get 6" today. That might sound like a lot, but after the recent storms that each dumped 1-2 feet, 6" is nothing!

I'm off this week (winter break out here), and I hope to squeeze in lots of crafting time. Off I go to scrapbook and then download pictures from Emma's birthday party.

Hope you have a great Monday!
