My Brother Came to Visit!

My brother, Dave, brought his beautiful family for a visit from Dec. 26-Jan. 1! It's the first "holiday" we've shared since 1995! Shameful, I know. :( They leave in Seattle and we live in Boston, about as far apart as you can get in the U.S. Unfortunately, their travels were anything but fun. Dave cashed in frequent flyer miles on two different airlines to get here. Dave and Trenton left about 90 minutes before Kristin and Connor, and they were all supposed to arrive with 10 minutes of each other. Dave and Trenton flew through Chicago, and were the the last flight cleared to land in Boston before the Dec. 26th/27th blizzard hit. Kristin and Connor were victims of a cancelled flight, and then they spent the next 7 or 8 hours in the airport trying to get on another flight. No such luck. They went back to the airport the next day and spent the entire day trying again. They were actually #'s 1 and 2 on the standby list for a flight, but they didn't get onto it. Finally, on Tuesday, they were able to get a flight into Providence, RI. By the time they got here, they were exhausted.

On Wednesday, Kristin, Emma, Brittany, and I indulged in pedicures while the guys built the most incredibly awesome snow tube run in the backyard for Emma! Santa brought Emma a snow tube and she was dying to use it. As you can see, even the big kids had fun, including Rick!
(Now, I must admit that I did not take any of these photos. My brother, Dave, is quite a good photographer, so I let him shoot away.)

And then there was Miss Emma. She loved it! Seriously~the colder she is, the happier she becomes! She loves, love, loves the snow and everything about it! Check out her face as she snow tubed. She squealed with delight as she picked up speed!
Of course, there were snowball fights to be had...
...as well as tackling Mommy in the snow!
Miss Emma even loves to eat the snow!
See what you missed, Mom? We could have sent you flying down the hill on Emma's snow tube!
