A Few More Tildas...

Here are two more cards I made with images from Sparkle. (Thanks again, Sparks!) In this one, the shimmer on her dress looks scratchy, but it really isn't.

Decorating Christmas Cookies

Digital cameras are a wonderful thing...except for the fact that they enable you to take a kazillion photos! I took 200 photos of Christmas...yup, 200! My kids joke that 199 of them are of Emma. Not true! 100, maybe~~but not 199! Besides, isn't that my job as a grandma? Anyway, now I need to sort through them all, correct red eyes, crop them, etc. That's not a small task! I will post a few of my favorites here as I work my way through them.

A few days before Christmas, Emma and her BFF, Lela, decorated Christmas cookies. Lela is 5 and is quite good at this. For Emma, is was all about tasting everything! I think she ate more than she decorated! By the time they were done, you could see every frosting color on Emma's face.

A White Christmas

The weekend before Christmas, we got 30" of snow! It was beautiful! It warmed up and rained on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and now most of the snow is gone. But this was the view from our front porch and back deck: the white spots in the photos are the snowflakes that fell as I shot these.

Merry Christmas!

I hope that you and your family enjoyed a delightful and blessed Christmas! Having Emma in the house adds so much joy to Christmas morning. Seeing everything through her eyes is such a blessing~it reminds me to hold onto my childlike faith and wonder in even the smallest of things. Being a grandma totally ROCKS!

Here are a few cards. This first one is for BSC60 on SCS. This stamp reminds me of being a little girl and playing with my best friend, Karen. I am not sure if we ever made tin can phones, but we sure did use our imaginations! I love the sentiment on this one. It's hard to read in the photo, but it says: "If you never did you should. These things are fun and FUN IS GOOD!" Yup, it's a quote from Dr. Seuss!

Paper: SU Paper Flowers
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Copic Spicas
Accessories: Bella's Dots in Glitter Dark Lilac, Pink Orchid, and Blue Jean; SU Ribbon Slot Punch; misc. white ribbon

Here are a few more Tilda cards. Sparkle Smith kindly sent these stamped images to me. She knew I was dying to play with some Tildas but didn't own any yet. Thanks, Sparks! The sentiment is a quote by Winnie the Pooh: "If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus one day so I NEVER have to live without you."
Stamps: Tilda with Cupcake by Magnolia; sentiment by Verve
Paper: SU Sweet Always and Pretty in Pink
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Copic Spicas

Here are a few more Tilda cards. I am really enjoying these stamps!

This card is SO me! The desire of my heart has been snow and a white Christmas. I live in MA, and we usually have some snow on the ground by now. This year has been dry, and it was beginning to look like a brown Christmas. Well, the desire of my heart was fulfilled: we have had 24" of snow in the last 52 hours and it's still snowing! I thought this Tilda would look cute sitting on a snow ball.

Wishing for a White Christmas...

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, LET IT SNOW!

We had 3" of snow on Wednesday. We are supposed to get 12" in six hours today. Now THAT'S a snowstorm! We are supposed to get 3 more inches on Saturday, another 3 on Sunday, and another 3 on Monday, with more on Christmas Day.

Yup, I'm crazy~but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the snow! I love it's shimmery silence and how it floats like a whisper from heaven past my office window. I love to make snow angels. I love to skate on frozen ponds surrounded by snow. I love the iciles hanging from my roof. I love that the colors of the deer and red fox that wander through my yard look so vibrant against the glistening white blanket. I love how the snow caresses the frozen tree branches. I love how my breath twirls like an icy veil in the cold night air. I just love everything about it! So bring it on!

Well, the ice storm knocked out our power for a day, as well as our internet and cable for 4 days~so I had ample opportunity to work on cards!

This month's featured Bella stamper is Jessica! The challenge was to pick one of her cards to CASE (copy, changing at least two things). This was not an easy task, as her gallery is awesome! Here is the card I chose. This was such an obvious choice for me! Y'all know that Glideabella is my favorite Bella since I am a skater and she was my first Bella. But Bookwormabella speaks to my heart, too~the author in me hopes to publish a stack of books this high!
I used ribbons instead of paper strips on the left side. I used different DP. I eliminated the brads, and I added dots. Here's my version for BSF2 on SCS:
Stamps: Bookwormabella and sentiment by Stamping Bella
Paper: SU Night of Navy and Soft Sky; DCWV The Winter Matstack
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Copic Spicas
Accessories: Bella's Dots in Glitter Twilight, Misc. Ribbon, 3-D Dots, Stickles in Yellow

Next, I caught up on the last two color challenges. Hope does such a great job of adding a fun "twist" to each challenge! For BCC57 on SCS, the twist was to use Kraft paper (similar to brown paper bags). I finished my card and then realized that I had forgotten to add the twist! So I snuck in a sentiment.
Stamp: Snowbunnybella by Stamping Bella; sentiment by Verve
Paper: CTMH Clover Meadow, Sorbet, and Dutch Blue; Brown Package paper
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Copic Spicas
Accessories: Ice Stickles in Crystal Ice, Faux Snow, Stickles in Icicle, CTMH Paper Piercer, 3-D Dots, Glittered Rick Rack, SU Ribbon Slot Punch, Nestabilities, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, CTMH Sanding Block

For BCC58 on SCS, Hope's "twist" was to make a holiday card. I think there's too much red showing. I may need to change the ribbon.
Stamps: Pia Puddingtop by Chichiboulie for Stamping Bella; sentiment by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps
Paper: CTMH Grey Flannel, Cranberry, and Ponderosa Pine
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Brilliance in Starlite Silver, Copics, Copic Spicas
Accessories: SU Ticket Corner Punch, Misc. Metallic Gold Curling Ribbon, Bella's Dots in Glitter Gold

Finally, I caught up on the last two sketch challenges by Jamie Morris. Her sketches are always so creative! First up was BSC58. I made this for my son's girlfriend.
Stamps: Matilda Muffinbread by Chichiboulie for Stamping Bella; sentiment by Stamping Bella
Paper: DP Chilly Mornings by October Afternoon; misc. brown
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Copic Spicas
Accessories: Bella's Dots in Glitter Sage, Stickles in Cinnamon, Shimmerz in Angel Wings, SU Felt Alpine Ribbon, SU Ticket Corner Punch, 3-D Dots

I love the colors on this next one! Here's BSC59.
Stamps: Daisyboardabella by Stamping Bella; sentiment by Elzybells
Paper: DCWV Christmas Glitter Matstack; CTMH Black and Watermelon
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Copic Spicas
Accessories: Faux Snow, Stickles in Coton Candy, Bella's Dots in Solid Black, SU Little Felt Flurries

Ice Storm

As you know, New England was hit by a severe ice storm Thursday night into Friday morning We've lived here for 6 years and have never seen an ice storm like this. The news said that it's the worst one to hit in 20 years!

We live in the woods, and our house is surrounded by lodgepole pines. They are beautiful trees, but do not hold up well under ice. All night long, we heard the snapping of branches. A few times, we heard and felt large crashes. We feared that a tree had fallen on our house or cars. At sunrise, we were relieved to discover that the large trees that fell did so across the driveway and did not cause any property damage. Amen!

We lost power at 4 am on Friday. It was a long, cold day. We huddled by the fireplace. By 4 pm, the house was down to 56 degrees. It may not sound cold, but it is! Praise God that our power was restored at 4:30. Many people in our town are still without power. The fallen trees took out their power lines (our street is the only one in town with underground lines), making the streets dangerous to travel. Because we are all on our own water wells and sewers, the loss of power means no water, no toilets, etc. You don't truly appreciate your utilities until you have to live without them! Our cable and internet service was out until earlier this afternoon. I did have my iPhone, but reserved its battery in case we lost phone service. I felt so cut off without internet, blogging, or email. I discovered that I am a technology geek. LOL

Here a few photos of our backyard. It is amazing how something like an ice storm can be so destructive yet so beautiful at the same time.

Bellaversary Challenges

Today is Stamping Bella's 2nd Anniversary! In honor of this occasion, there was a Bella Bash on SCS. Three challenges were given. Shannan's challenge was to use a specific sketch. I made this card for my brother and his wife. They are expecting their first child together! This sentiment expresses my feelings when I heard the news!
Stamps: Teddybella and sentiment by Stamping Bella
Paper: Misc.
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Copic Spicas
Accessories: Bella's Favorite Ribbon in Marshmallow, Bella's Dots in Glitter Light Lilac, SU Ticket Corner Punch, CTMH Paper Piercer, CTMH Silver Brad

Sparkle's challenge was to use Stamping Bella's signature colors: pink and light green. This stamp IS Stamping Bella!
Stamps: Stampingbella by Stamping Bella
Paper: DCWV DP and Green; SU Regal Rose
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Copic Spicas
Accessories: Bella's Peridot Hot Fix Crystals, Taylored Expressions Twill Ribbon, SU Ticket Corner Punch

Hope's challenge was to use the theme of twos because it was Stamping Bella's second anniversary. Christy Croll (Tiddly Inks) designed a new line of stamps for Stamping Bella inspired by a photo of my grand-daughter, Emma, in her ladybug costume. Of course, I HAD to have this stamp! I made this card for Emma's scrapbook. Emma's room is decorated with ladybugs and daisies, hence the design of this card. I used two paper daisies, two strips of DP, two pieces of ribbon, two dots, and two brads.
Stamps: Lovey HuggABugg by Tiddly Inks for Stamping Bella
Paper: Misc.
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Copic Spicas
Accessories: Bella's Dots in Solid Black, Paper Daisies, Taylored Expressions Twill Ribbon, Black Button Brads, SU Ticket Corner Punch, SU Word Window Punch, 3-D Dots

Hope, Sparkle, and Shannan~thanks for the great challenges!

Stockings on Parade

When Brittany was born, I made her a felt stocking. It quickly became a tradition. I made one for each of our kids, as well as for me and Rick. The stockings are faded and worn, but my kids will not let me make new ones for them. They want the ones that they remember from every Christmas of their lives. It's sweet that they are so sentimental.

Through the years, I have made some for family members, the kids of a few special friends, and for my mom. When Emma was born, I had to make her one, too! I couldn't find a felt kit, so I made her a needlepoint stocking. All in all, I have made 30!

About 15 years ago, I painted this stocking holder. This is my favorite Christmas decoration!

Santa Baby

On Thanksgiving, we watched the Macy's Christmas Parade. At the end, we pointed out Santa to Emma. Since then, she has been saying "Santa. Ho, ho, ho!" every time she sees Santa on anything. Today, Brittany and I took her to the mall for a photo with Santa. Before we left, I dressed her Bitty Baby in a special Christmas dress. When I showed her to Emma, she put her hands on her cheeks and said, "Oh, Baby!" (Yup. I'm a grandma~I bought a special dress for the DOLL to wear to see Santa!) All the way to the mall, Emma kept saying saying, "Go see Santa." She was very excited to see him...until it was time to sit with him. Then she wasn't so sure. Her favorite part was when Santa read to her. Of course, as soon as Brittany picked her up, she liked him again! She's standing here as I post this, and she is giddy over seeing Santa! Guess he's not too scary on a computer screen.

They let me take photos as long as I bought one of theirs. Here are a few that I took. First, here's one from last year. She was so tiny! She was 9 months old.
Here are some from this year. Emma is 21 months olds.

Here are two old photos. This one is of Brittany's 2nd Christmas. She was 16 months old. You can see that she was NOT happy! She took the cookies Santa gave her and then cried anyway. She just saw this photo and said she was probably crying because of the horrible tights I made her wear. LOL
And here is my first photo with Santa. I was 3. The three of us definitely look alike!
